Arena 10 is a stage that many clash royale players are looking to reach. To do so, they must obtain 3,000 trophies in the ladder season, an ambitious goal! Once this stage is reached, many decks are playable with 92% of the cards unlocked!
Win conditions available
Arena 10 gives you access to most of the cards you need to use a good siege-style deck. Only tesla is not available, but you can replace it with an inferno tower. You can choose between x-bow and mortar. The objective is to place your offensive buildings one square from the edge of the screen behind the river and to defend. If the x-bow or mortar connects, the hit points of the enemy tower can go down very quickly. Fireball and log often come with siege decks. These spells allow you to get rid of swarm troops like minions, skeletons and goblins very quickly. A defensive building is also often used to increase the protection of your x-bow. The use of this type of deck requires a lot of technique and anticipation to be able to protect the x-bow and mortar at the river.
All the beatdown decks are available at Arena 10, only the sparky and the electro-wizard are missing. As these decks are often expensive, they include an elixir collector to consolidate your attacks. The lavahound deck is a separate deck with its own air troops in support (minions, balloon, baby dragon…). You can also play one of the most popular decks in the game: the golem deck. All supporting cards and spells are available in Arena 10 (nightwitch, poison, lumberjack…). Finally, the royal giant deck is also in the beatdown category and you’ll meet some of them from Arena 10.
Control type decks are all based on a solid defense and a win condition which can take a tower in the long run. The miner and the hog rider are very good examples: they need several assaults in order to be able to progressively lower the hit points of the opponent’s tower. This type of deck is not intended to build powerful attacks like beatdown decks but rather to counter-attack effectively after a successful defense. We often find the miner with the poison spell or the hog with the fireball, these are the two most popular archetypes. Freeze is also sometimes used with a hog deck or a graveyard and works very well in 2v2.
Spell Bait literally means: bait spells! This type of strategy is based on several win conditions. The objective of this type of deck is to force the opponent to use a spell to eliminate for example a goblin gang, leaving the field open to a goblin barrel that can’t be defended with the spell that has just been used. By multiplying the disturbing troops and attracting the opponent’s spells, you leave the field open to other troops that cannot be effectively eliminated. The log bait is the most popular variant with the princess, goblin gang and the barrel. Since the log is the most effective spell to eliminate a goblin barrel or the princess, the opponent must choose! Today the role of the log is however also filled by barbarian barrel which also costs 2 elixirs, is just as effective without the blocking mechanism of the log but with a barbarian in addition.
What archetype should you pick?
Choosing which type of deck to play is a matter of personal taste and updates. Arena 10 provides access to most of the cards needed to play the four archetypes described above. However, it is advisable to master several types of decks, as Supercell performs major balancing updates every month. Some cards are thus considered stronger and are present in many decks in ladder and challenges. At the moment, the baby dragon and the barbarian barrel are the two most played cards. But for how long?
Some archetypes, however, are timeless. This is the case of the beatdown and control archetypes that still work well but can be challenged by a popular card on the other hand. That’s why you should always be able to adapt your strategy and your deck from arena 10. Including new cards that enter your archetype will allow you to adapt to the changes that Supercell has implemented.
Probably one of the most popular siege decks with very fast card cycle. The deck costs only 2.9 elixirs, which allows you to quickly have the x-bow in your hand to put pressure on your opponent when he doesn’t have the right cards to defend. In order to play the deck well, it is important to observe the opponent’s cards and their rotation in order to defend the x-bow when it is played. The fireball and the log will be very useful to get rid of swarm troops (minions, gang, skeletons). The tesla if it is well positioned protects the x-bow of the troops with more hit points. The archers placed in support are very efficient and can be protected with the ice golem or skeletons. Don’t hesitate to play the x-bow in defense especially against a beatdown deck. The range of the x-bow is very important, so it is very annoying for the opponent in defense. You must avoid at all costs losing a tower with this deck because it is then very difficult to set up your x-bow when the opponent can deploy his troops directly behind it.
Beatdown deck with golem
Average cost in elixir : 4.25
Code name : Golem night witch
This is one of the most popular beatdown decks in clash royale. The golem will be used to mop up any damage done by the enemy. In support or defense, the lumberjack will support the golem in his death with his rage spell. The baby dragon will come to neutralize all the small troops like goblins, skeletons and minions as well in defense as in attack. The zap will support your attacks by resetting the inferno tower. The tornado is the technical trump card of the deck by allowing you to activate the king’s tower in defence or by concentrating the opposing troops on the golem in attack phase with the baby dragon to inflict zone damage. To support this heavy deck, the elixir collector will allow you to consolidate your attacks if you manage to take advantage of it.
Miner control deck
Average cost in elixir : 2.8
Code name : Miner poison
This deck relies on an extremely strong defense and the miner to build up attack damage. The knight and archers combo is very efficient to defend against various attacks. The inferno tower will help you to clean the tanks like the golem or the giant. The zap finally will take care of the smallest troops. In attack the miner can be associated with a poison, especially if the opponent defends with goblins, skeletons or minions. Don’t hesitate to play your miner in counter-attack while the knight distracts the opponent’s tower in order to inflict more damage. If your opponent has the tornado in his hand, you should avoid playing the miner too close to the king’s tower, otherwise your opponent will take advantage of it to activate it, which will make your attacks less effective. The success of this deck relies on the speed of your cards cycle with constant attacks with the miner
Log bait deck
Average cost in elixir : 3.25
Code name : Log Bait
The log bait is one of the most frequently used decks at Arena 10 and is an archetype in itself. The worst enemy of this deck is the log, you have to force your opponent to play it using the princess or the goblin gang. If the log is not in your opponent’s hand then the way is clear for a goblin barrel! You must constantly put pressure on your opponent’s tower in order to disrupt the cycle of your opponent’s cards. The knight is very useful in defense, especially to protect the princess against a miner. The inferno tower is to be used against tanks and can be supported by a princess to mop up the skeletons / bats of witches. Finally the rocket can be used at the end of the game to finish the opponent’s tower if its hit points are low. The strategy is always to concentrate your attacks on a single tower.
